Farrier

My job as a farrier is to optimise the locomotion of the horse.

There is a natural balance between the different biomechanical forces at play in the horse’s foot which will determine its physiology and anatomy.

Anomalies and pathologies of and in the locomotive system of the horse will result in an interruption in this balance, which will manifest itself in the hoof’s condition.

My job as a farrier is to be able to notice and interpret this through the observation of the posture of the limbs, analysis of the biomechanics of the horse, understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the hoof.

I can offer the following techniques:

hot and cold shoeing
natural hoof trimming
orthopedic shoeing
remedial shoeing and shoeing following a vet’s recommendations

My objective is to obtain and maintain a hoof that is balanced and healthy.
Improving and maintaining the smooth functioning of the locomotive system leads to increased longevity and performance of your horse and this is what I work towards.
